Style Icon: Brad Pitt

The man has suave in spades. His appeal goes beyond his good looks. Many attractive young men have found that fame in Hollywood is fleeting. But Brad is still going strong all these years after his 1991 breakthrough turn in Thelma and Louise as a charming, thieving, romancing young drifter.

Decades later, he’s married and divorced two Hollywood starlets, and branched into film producing, winning an Oscar for producing 12 Years a Slave. He’s starred in blockbusters like Ocean’s Eleven, Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. (His career lows include Interview with a Vampire and Meet Joe Black.)

But let’s not focus on his career, his looks or his personal life. Today we are interested in his style. We’ve noticed several trends that you can incorporate into your own wardrobe and lifestyle.

Brad Pitt Style Tip One: hair is for changing – regularly

He’s done it all. Floppy 90s fringe, peroxide blonde, beard, stubble, moustache, long, short and everything in between.

Say yes to dry cleaning and no to crumpled suits that give you an unwashed vibe. Consider details like pocket kerchiefs and sleeve length. Shoes should be properly shined. If your suit don’t fit, don’t be a cheapskate – get yourself to a tailor. For a few bucks you’ll get yourself a suit cut perfectly to your frame. Others might not notice this minutiae, but the overall look will give you a Brad-like vibe.

Brad Pitt Style Tip Two: Red Carpet = Tailoring

You don’t have to be attending the Academy Awards. Get fussy about your fit. Brad Pitt certainly has a good stylist who makes sure his suits are impeccably tailored. You can do the same for yourself. If your suits or shirts are too large, it’ll look like you borrowed your dad’s tux. Too loose, and your colleagues will start calling you The Donald behind your back.

Brad Pitt Styling Tip Three: Go Beige

Sick of navy blue and black? Go for paler colours, in a monochrome look. Top it off with tan accessories and you’ll be crowned best dressed in your company. (If that’s a thing where you work.) The paler shades of beige, khaki and white are great for our hot Australian climate, and they give off a more relaxed vibe. Having the guts to wear less conventional colours in your suit says a lot about your confidence in general. So if you wear it, own it. (And don’t have Mexican food for lunch.)
